Description:

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Bore Drill Locator with experience operating Subsite locating systems to support horizontal directional drilling (HDD) operations. This role is critical for ensuring safe, accurate bore paths during underground utility installations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of utility locates, HDD practices, and real-time tracking of drill heads in various soil conditions.

  • Accurately locate and track the drill head using Subsite HDD guidance systems during horizontal directional drilling operations.
  • Communicate effectively with the drill operator to guide bore path based on plan specifications, utility locates, and field conditions.
  • Interpret utility markings, bore plans, and soil data to avoid conflicts and obstructions.
  • Monitor depth, pitch, roll, and direction in real-time and make on-the-fly adjustments as needed.
  • Mark the bore path and exit points clearly and accurately.
  • Assist with job setup, site prep, and equipment checks to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Subsite locating equipment for optimal performance.
  • Record bore data and maintain daily logs and as-builts when required.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and OSHA requirements.
Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Bore Locator using Subsite (TK, TK Recon, or other models) .
  • Strong understanding of horizontal directional drilling methods and utility construction practices.
  • Ability to interpret utility locates, bore plans, and schematics.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with drill operators and crew.
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus).
  • Willingness to work in outdoor environments and travel to job sites as needed.
  • Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, walk long distances, and work in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Ditch Witch HDD equipment and accessories.
  • Familiarity with vacuum excavation and soft digging techniques.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
  • CDL Class A or B.
