The CAD Engineer position works and supports the organization by providing mechanical design expertise and management of assigned tasks. The ideal candidate will translate concepts and ideas provided by others into creative and cost-effective designs through appropriate deliverables (SolidWorks CAD models/drawings, P&IDs, Process Diagrams, etc.) as needed to support project lifecycle.

This role requires the individual to maintain documentation standards while keeping project deliverables up-to-date based in support of our ISO 9001 program.

The CAD Engineer interfaces with a wide variety of individuals and is expected to communicate with assemblers, sales personnel, clients, upper management, and vendors on a regular basis. This position reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Position Requirements:

  • Moderate to Expert CAD background with SolidWorks 2021 or newer (Position uses Routing and Sheet Metal Add-ins heavily)
  • Ability to actively engage with others of multiple organizational levels and experience (including internal staff and vendors)
  • Generate new designs based on minimal direction from personnel and supervisor and present design justification where appropriate
  • Excellent problem interpretation and solving skills
  • Knowledge of materials and various fabrication methods including sheet metal forming and machining for Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Plastics, Rubber/Elastomers
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work to support organizational needs including using measuring tools to collect necessary dimensions

Preferred Requirements:

  • Some background of Pneumatic (pressure regulators, solenoids) and Electrical components (motors, conduit trade sizing, basic relays and components, design layout)
  • Some 2D CAD experience is ideal (AutoCAD/Draftsight)
  • Strong background in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, Powerpoint)
  • Food or Beverage industry experience
  • Project Management skills/background
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 Environment
  • Experience using a vault-managed CAD system (SolidWorks EPDM or similar)
  • Bachelor of Science – Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years industry experience; Background in other relevant industries may be accepted in lieu of B.S. degree
