The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a caregiver that supports adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in either a residential or community based setting while maintaining sensitivity to the rights and dignity of the individual. The DSP in a residential setting is responsible for assisting individuals to live a self-directed life, assisting with activities of daily living, implementing individual programming, and responsible for the routine operation of the home. The DSP in a community program is responsible for developing and facilitating individualized programs of functional, social, and daily living skills instruction to promote independence, interdependence, and community integration. This instruction may occur in group situations and/or is individually scheduled, and it can be implemented in the person’s home setting, day services setting, and/or community settings. The DSP reports directly to the Program Supervisor. This position is part of our Adult Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) Community Home Services and Day Programs. Full-Time, Part-Time & Flexible schedules - 1st, 2nd & 3rd shifts. 2nd & 3rd shifts include weekend hours. CSG’s Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD/ASD) Services offers a 2 week paid orientation including foundational training held in-person at Mountville, Williamsport, and Bethlehem offices with mileage reimbursement. Responsibilities include developing relationships to promote emotional, physical and personal well-being; assisting adults in life skills development; supporting individual preferences; promoting community integration; helping individuals reach independence goals; completing documentation; collaborating with agencies and families; supporting medical care arrangements; conducting fire drills and managing emergencies. Qualifications include being at least 18 years old, having a High School diploma or equivalency for day services, valid driver’s license, good driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle. Medication administration as permitted.
