Position Description
The field service technician job calls for an individual who is able to manage multiple projects at the same time and travel to various places to provide services on various types of centrifugal air compressors and systems. The candidate should have experience with I-R Centac, I-R (Cameron, JOY), and/or Atlas Copco and FS Elliott centrifugal air compressors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Field Service Technician
•Tests and repairs equipment at the customer’s site.
•Provides on-site commissioning and installation of various forms of equipment.
•Confirms that machinery and instruments function normally and provides contract or warranty repair or replacement on-site when necessary.
•Trains customers on start-up, operation and maintenance of various pieces of equipment.
•Performs other duties as assigned to him or her by the service manager including but not limited to sales and service.
•Travels to customer locations as necessary to provide service.
•Attends regular ongoing education as scheduled by the employer or manufacturer of equipment.
•Fills out service forms and provides customers with statements when required.
•Prepares service, expense and timesheets accurately and in a timely manner.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Possesses knowledge of general electronics and turbo machinery.
•Demonstrates the ability to work with other members of field service department on crew type projects.
•Is able to handle multiple tasks within a single day; does not allow longer-than-expected service calls to cause frustration or major setbacks.
•Shows the ability to work independently without direct supervision.
•Possesses a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
•Shows excellent customer service skills and the ability to diagnose issues through non-technical descriptions that are provided by customers.
Education and Experience
5 or more years of experience in the field required.
High school diploma or GED is required.
Associates, Bachelor, or Technical Degree preferred.
