Salem Sports Events is hiring a skilled, detail-oriented Industrial Painter to join our production team in Kernersville, NC. What You’ll Do:

You’ll be responsible for prepping, painting, and finishing a wide variety of fabricated materials — from metal structures and scenic elements to 3D signage and display builds. This hands-on role requires precision, efficiency, and a passion for delivering clean, professional results every time. No two projects are the same, and your work will be a visible part of high-profile events seen nationwide.

Qualifications:

To be considered, you must bring experience in industrial or commercial painting — preferably with examples of past work or a portfolio of painted finishes. Whether it's spray applications, priming, masking, or troubleshooting finishes, we want to see your attention to detail and process. Bonus points if you’ve worked in environments related to events, experiential marketing, or scenic fabrication.

Position Summary: As an Industrial Painter you will be responsible for mixing coating liquids and spraying each layout according to specifications. To ensure success as a painter, you should have excellent hand-eye coordination, good knowledge of painting and paint mixing techniques with a strong attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Responsible for high quality creation of products according to specifications.
  • Responsible for utilizing plans for production.
  • Utilize air spray guns to complete quality work.
  • Perform color matching to client specified colors on different substrates.
  • Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated.
  • Assist with prep work when necessary.
  • Follow approved process for painting the numerous substates/materials used in manufacturing.
  • Monitors project progression to ensure on-time completion.
  • Inspects painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags, and unpainted areas.
  • Perform basic daily maintenance and cleaning of all equipment per manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Coordinate with Paint and Finishing Manager and/or relevant personnel to communicate workflow and project status.
  • Adheres to all regulatory compliance guidelines for hazardous waste disposal.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the physical location.

  • Knowledge of automotive type paint and paint mixing techniques.

  • Must be able to manage and navigate projects until completion in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prior work experience as a painter in a metal shop

  • Physical Demands: This position lifts heavy objects of up to 50 pounds regularly and 70 lbs. occasionally, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries objects and uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs.

  • Work Environment: This position regularly works in workshop conditions that include cold, heat and humidity. The noise level in the work environment is commensurate with a construction site. This position secondarily works in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and humidity. The noise level in the work environment is commensurate with a construction site.

Expected Hours of Work/Travel: This is a full-time position in the Winston Salem office during regular business hours. Days and hours of work are dictated by the nature of the scope of work which can include long hours and weekend work.
