Job Description

Title: Internal Audit Associate

Location: Mclean - 1 day remote

Salary: $85-95K (depending on experience) + 10% bonus

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Internal Auditor to assess and improve the effectiveness of our internal controls, risk management processes, and governance practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing audits across various departments, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, and providing recommendations for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and report on financial, operational, and compliance audits.
  • Evaluate internal controls and processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identify areas of risk and recommend solutions to mitigate them.
  • Ensure company compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Prepare audit work papers and detailed audit reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Communicate audit results to management and assist in the development of corrective action plans.
  • Follow up on audit findings to ensure implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assist with investigations and special projects as needed.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, standards, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CIA, or CISA certification is a plus).
  • 5+ years of relevant internal or external audit experience.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment, internal controls, and audit methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with audit software/tools is a plus.
