Job Description
BASIC PURPOSE: Our goal is to offer primary care to adolescents aged 12-17 who are struggling with mental health issues, eating disorders, and/or substance abuse. Additionally, we provide continuous support to the group therapist and academic liaison during group and school sessions. We also administer medications to clients and document the administration of drugs.
Specific Responsibilities:
The role of the Medical Assistant is crucial in ensuring that new clients are welcomed and familiarized with the program. The Medical Assistant is responsible for educating new clients about the expectations and requirements for successful treatment. They also take vital signs, including blood pressure, height, and weight, and conduct drug screening and body checks.
The candidate will also document weekly client weights. Working closely with the Psychiatrist, the Medical Assistant ensures medication changes are in accordance with the medication management policy. They also update and maintain medication management system logs daily, as needed.
Detailed notes must be submitted daily for each client, including their daily fitness, food diaries, and 12-step meetings. To be considered, applicants must have a current Medical Assisting degree/certification and experience working with adolescents aged 12-17 years old. Crisis management skills, knowledge of psychopathology, and dual diagnosis are also required.
