Job Description

Essential Duties and Job Functions:
  • Accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses.
  • Review clinical documentation and records to ensure the correct codes are applied.
  • Ensure codes are assigned following industry regulations and guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and other payers.
  • Monitor and follow up on unpaid claims, rejections, and denials to ensure timely reimbursement.
  • Resolve billing issues and discrepancies with insurance companies and patients.
  • Participate in audits and reviews to maintain coding accuracy and compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
  • Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC) through AAPC or AHIMA, is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in an FQHC establishment.
  • Proficiency in coding systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Experience with NextGen and billing software.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with billing and coding for medical services is preferred.
