Job Summary:

The Pressure Vessel Shop Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the fabrication shop, ensuring all ASME Section VIII pressure vessels and related components are fabricated, assembled, and tested in accordance with code requirements, customer specifications, and

company standards. This role manages shop personnel, safety compliance, and coordination with production manager to achieve on-time delivery.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Production & Supervision

· Supervise and coordinate activities of welders, fitters, assemblers, and other shop personnel in the fabrication of ASME code pressure vessels and equipment.

· Plan, assign, and monitor work to ensure efficient workflow and optimal use of manpower and materials.

· Interpret fabrication drawings, welding procedures (WPS/PQR), and ASME code requirements.

· Ensure all fabrication and inspection hold points are followed per traveler.

· Coordinate with project managers and production manager to resolve design or material issues.

· Verify materials, fittings, and consumables conform to specifications before use.

· Assist with preparation and execution of safe and successful hydrotest or Pneumatic test.

Quality & Compliance

· Maintain shop documentation in compliance with the company’s Quality Control Manual.

· Assist quality control in checking and approving vessel layouts, fit-ups, and final welds.

· Review and sign off on travelers, fit-up reports, and other QC documentation as required.

Safety & Training

· Enforce compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and best practices.

· Conduct safety toolbox meetings and promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability.

· Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to shop personnel.

Scheduling & Resource Management

· Work with production manager to develop and manage daily and weekly production schedules to meet project deadlines.

· Monitor job progress and report potential delays or issues to production and project managers.

· Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of shop tools, welding machines, and lifting equipment.

· Manage inventory levels of welding consumables, gases, and materials to avoid shortages.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma.

· Fluent in English & Spanish

· Competent in basic Microsoft Office functions.

· Minimum 5–10 years of experience in pressure vessel fabrication, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.

· Strong knowledge of WPS/PQR/WPQ , material traceability, and NDE methods (RT, PT, MT, UT, PAUT).

· Proficiency in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings and weld symbols.

· Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
