Job Description

Position Overview: Geico is seeking a visionary and highly experienced Principal Product Manager to lead the transformation and strategic direction of our Policy Management System. This is a high-impact role that will drive the next generation of policy management capabilities across the organization. As a Principal PM, you will be responsible for shaping the long-term roadmap of our Policy Management platform, leading complex, cross-functional initiatives, and determining the strategic decisions regarding whether to build, partner, or buy solutions for the platform’s future evolution. This role requires exceptional strategic leadership, a deep understanding of policy management systems, and the ability to influence at the highest levels of the organization. You will be the key driver in modernizing our platform to support Geico’s growth and regulatory needs, leading efforts that span from high-level strategic visioning to tactical execution. The Principal PM will work closely with senior executives, business leaders, engineering, legal, and compliance teams to ensure alignment and delivery on our objectives. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Roadmap Vision: Define and lead the long-term product strategy and roadmap for Geico’s Policy Management platform, aligning it with Geico’s overall business and operational goals. Drive the “build vs. buy” decision-making process, evaluating internal development against third-party solutions to ensure Geico’s continued leadership in the insurance space. Identify key opportunities for platform innovation and lead the exploration of next-generation technologies that will advance our policy management capabilities, focusing on scalability, automation, and customer-centric experiences. Transformational Leadership in Compliance & Regulatory Areas: Lead efforts to modernize the platform in accordance with evolving industry regulations, ensuring compliance across all modules while mitigating risk. Work with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to monitor regulatory changes and drive necessary updates to the Policy Management platform. Establish clear frameworks for managing complex legal, regulatory, and compliance challenges, ensuring the platform remains flexible and adaptable to future needs. Cross-Functional Influence & Executive Collaboration: Build and sustain strong relationships with senior executives and stakeholders across Geico to define, communicate, and prioritize business and technical requirements. Partner with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Data Science, IT, etc.) to drive the successful execution of initiatives while balancing business needs, technical feasibility, and compliance obligations. Provide thought leadership on critical initiatives and influence senior decision-makers to drive alignment across departments and functions. Policy Management Platform Evolution & Optimization: Lead the evolution of our Policy Management platform, overseeing the integration of new technologies, automation features, and customer-centric enhancements to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention. Champion the optimization of key platform performance metrics, ensuring system reliability, availability, and scalability while continuously improving the user experience for both customers and internal teams. Evaluate and manage vendor relationships for third-party tools or services, ensuring value, compliance, and integration with existing systems. Regulatory & Risk Management Expertise: Navigate complex, often conflicting, regulatory requirements across different jurisdictions to ensure that the Policy Management system meets all legal and compliance standards. Spearhead the development of risk management frameworks, anticipating and mitigating potential risks associated with regulatory changes, system migrations, or new platform implementations. Lead efforts to ensure that all regulatory and audit-related requirements are fully met across all Policy Management modules. Mentorship & Talent Development: Mentor and guide junior and mid-level product managers, fostering a culture of excellence within the product management team. Lead by example, setting the standard for best practices in product management, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration. Cultivate an innovative mindset across the team, encouraging creative problem-solving and out-of-the-box thinking for challenging problems. End-to-End Product Lifecycle Ownership: Oversee the full product lifecycle for major Policy Management platform initiatives—from ideation and strategy development to execution, monitoring, and post-launch optimization. Lead and manage major product initiatives with complex timelines, budgets, and high stakes, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with Geico’s broader strategic objectives. Implement strong feedback loops to continuously gather insights from stakeholders, customers, and product usage data to inform ongoing improvements. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred). 10+ years of experience in product management with a proven track record of leading complex product initiatives, ideally in Policy Management, Underwriting, or related areas in the insurance industry. Extensive experience with regulatory, legal, and compliance challenges in the insurance industry, with a strong ability to navigate complex regulations. Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Senior Leadership. Strong strategic vision and operational execution skills, with the ability to balance long-term goals with immediate business needs. Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to senior leaders and technical teams alike. Ability to lead change, build consensus, and deliver complex projects on time and within budget. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree or relevant certifications in Product Management, Insurance, or related fields. Experience with Agile development methodologies and related project management tools (e.g., ADO / Jira). Knowledge of Geico's product suite, technology stack, and business operations.
