Strategic Purchasing Manager

Location: Jacksonville, FL (On-site)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Strategic Purchasing Manager to lead procurement operations across materials, equipment, and subcontractor sourcing. This role is responsible for driving cost-effective purchasing strategies, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and ensuring the timely delivery of resources to support project execution and budget adherence.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with project timelines and cost goals
  • Collaborate with project managers to forecast material and equipment needs
  • Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for alternative sourcing

Vendor & Supplier Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard qualified suppliers
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure the best value
  • Manage vendor performance, reliability, and compliance

Purchasing & Inventory Control

  • Oversee purchasing processes to ensure timely ordering and delivery
  • Track and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock
  • Coordinate with warehouse and logistics to streamline distribution

Budget & Cost Control

  • Monitor procurement budgets and track spend against targets
  • Drive cost savings through strategic sourcing and process improvements
  • Ensure procurement practices support broader financial objectives

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate procurement records (POs, contracts, invoices)
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, safety standards, and industry regulations
  • Provide regular reporting on purchasing metrics and vendor performance

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor purchasing staff to ensure operational efficiency
  • Partner with construction, operations, and leadership teams to support project success
  • Participate in planning meetings and resolve product or delivery issues proactively

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Construction Management, or related field

Experience:

  • 5+ years in procurement or purchasing, preferably in construction or related industries
  • Proven experience in vendor negotiations, cost control, and contract management

Skills & Tools:

  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and inventory systems
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement platforms (e.g., Sage 300 CRE)
  • Familiarity with construction materials, equipment, and supplier standards

Certifications (Preferred):

  • CPSM, CPPB, or other relevant supply chain certifications
