Senior Data Scientist – AWS AI/ML & Data Engineering Expert

Location: Remote / Hybrid

Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist with expertise in AWS AI/ML, Bedrock, and data engineering to play a key role in customizing foundation models (FMs) using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), optimizing AWS Glue ETL workflows, and integrating AI-driven insights into dynamic reporting solutions.

This role will work closely with Full Stack Developers, Product Owners, and AWS Cloud Architects to ensure that AI-driven insights align with visualization requirements.

Key Responsibilities

AI/ML Development & AWS Bedrock Customization

• Customize AWS Bedrock foundation models (FMs) using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for domain-specific applications.
• Build and fine-tune ML models for entity resolution, predictive analytics, and data enrichment.
• Implement ML inference pipelines using AWS SageMaker and integrate models into AWS Glue workflows.
• Utilize Bedrock-powered AI to enable intelligent search, summarization, and insights in reports and dashboards.

Data Engineering & AWS Cloud Integration

• Design and implement AWS Glue ETL jobs using AWS Glue Studio for scalable data transformation.
• Work with AWS Glue Crawlers and AWS Glue Data Catalog to optimize metadata management.
• Develop Athena and Redshift queries for efficient data retrieval and processing.
• Automate ML model deployment using AWS Step Functions and Lambda.

Architectural Data Design for AI-Driven Visualization

• Work closely with Full Stack Developers to ensure AI-driven insights are structured for integration into Power BI.
• Architect data structures that support shape file-based geographic visualizations, ensuring compatibility for Full Stack Developers to implement in Power BI.
• Ensure role-based access controls (RBAC) are correctly applied at both the visualization and row-level to control who can see which reports and data subsets.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Data Science, AI/ML, or a similar role with hands-on AWS experience.
• Expertise in customizing AWS Bedrock foundation models (FMs) using RAG.
• Strong programming skills in Python (Pandas, NumPy, PySpark, Hugging Face, LangChain, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience building AWS Glue ETL jobs via AWS Glue Studio.
• Hands-on experience with Athena, Redshift, SageMaker, Step Functions, and Lambda.
• Understanding of data architectures that support shape file-based geographic visualizations in Power BI (implementation handled by Full Stack Developers).
• Strong knowledge of role-based access controls (RBAC) for both visualization access and row-level data security.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating AI insights into Power BI reports or web-based dashboards.
• Knowledge of AWS Lake Formation, data security models, and compliance best practices.
• Familiarity with GovTech, election software, or compliance-driven AI analytics (a plus).
• Experience working with Product Owners and Customer to translate Product Vision to concept and MVP – full lifecycle opportunity.
• Experience directly translating customer and business needs and translating them into actionable technical product outcomes.
• Experience in data-lab or start-up environment.
