Job Description

Surgical Technologists are an integral part of the team of the surgical team. Surgical technologists help to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the patient safety is maintained. The surgical technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure and anticipates the need of the surgeon. He/she is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Qualifications: Must successfully complete a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technology or successfully complete an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Military. Must hold and maintain an unexpired certification in surgical technology credentialed by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization or meet the requirements to be grandfathered in the profession as outlined by New York State Health laws. This role may require access to information considered sensitive to Albany Medical Center, its patients, affiliates, and partners, including but not limited to HIPAA Protected Health Information and other information regulated by Federal and New York State statutes. Workforce members are expected to ensure that: Access to information is based on a “need to know” and is the minimum necessary to properly perform assigned duties. Use or disclosure shall not exceed the minimum amount of information needed to accomplish an intended purpose. Reasonable efforts, consistent with Albany Med Center policies and standards, shall be made to ensure that information is adequately protected from unauthorized access and modification.
