HOW A SYSTEMS SAFETY ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Designs and defines system architecture for tailored range safety requirements.
  • Conduct system safety evaluation of satellite vehicle program, launch vehicle integration and Operation & Maintenance plans, procedures and safety documentation for compliance with applicable federal, state and range safety requirements.
  • Conduct and support facility readiness walk-downs prior to satellite vehicle arrival and hazardous operations.
  • Provide safety surveillance/monitoring of all satellite vehicle pre-launch hazardous operations and ensure hazards are properly mitigated.
  • Provide technical and programmatic support for any near miss and/or mishap investigation related to satellite vehicle program.
  • Support facility modification efforts to identify any potential safety impacts to satellite vehicle programs and associated processing activities.
  • Review best practices and recommend ways to apply those practices to range safety requirements.
  • Maintain System Safety Risk Management modules in Government provided tools.
  • Participates in special projects as required.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Required Experience: 5+ years of related launch system safety experience
  • Required Technical Skills: Fire Inspector Certification from an accredited program
  • Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI with polygraph
  • Location: On Customer Site
  • US Citizenship Required

The likely salary range for this position is $105,622 - $132,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
