Nurse Manager 10th floor Medical Surgical/ Hemo/Oncology FTE Oversight: 10th floor: 40 RNs and 14.5 PCTs- currently 4 Rn vacancies and 1 PCT vacancy BronxCare Health System is the largest, not-for-profit health and teaching hospital system serving Central and South Bronx. This key leadership position encompasses a Medical/Surgical Unit, located at the Concourse Pavilion, at the BronxCare Hospital Center and would need to be professional, proactive and able to lead the staff with skill. Charge nurses act as Assistant Nurse Managers and they do have a staff RN with strong Dialysis experience, so the emphasis might be better on Hematology/Oncology. This Patient care Unit is designated for oncology, chemotherapy patients as well as and medical surgical patients, with a wide range of medical conditions. Within the unit there is an inpatient dialysis unit. The unit has the capacity to provide care for forty-three (43) medical surgical beds and four (4) hemodialysis beds. Medical/Surgical, Nurse Manager will provide integrated clinical leadership and management on a on a twenty-four-hour basis, consistent with the philosophy and goals of Bronx Care Health System and Patient Care Services. Responsibilities: Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Assess patient care requirements in each unit by making rounds in all patient care units. Develop and implement staffing plan for shift based on patient acuity, patient census and available staff. Serve as a resource to staff for solving clinical problems. Assist staff to efficiently utilize staffing resources to meet patient care requirements and other professional responsibilities. Respond to emergency situations and assists as necessary. Act as a resource in identifying and/or solving administrative/operational problems. Work collaboratively with nursing and ancillary staff to solve problems in a fair, consistent manner. Requirements New York State Registered Nurse License Registered Nurse Registration College Degree-BSN required MSN-preferred BLS from American Heart Association Minimum of three years of recent acute care RN experience Leadership experience required Other Requirements Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communications skills Communication skills written and verbal skills required Progressive leadership: demonstrated in a leadership position or demonstrates the potential for leadership competency; demonstrates ability to develop, guide, motivate, nurture, and coach others. Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and creative problem solving. Membership in pertinent professional organizations.
