The Central Sterile Processing (CSP) Department is a critical support service responsible for ensuring the availability of sterile surgical instruments and supplies for patient care. The department manages all aspects of decontamination, instrument processing, sterilization, case cart production, and surgical equipment tracking across multiple facilities, including the James Cancer Hospital, University Hospital, Same Day Surgery (SDS), Labor and Delivery, and Ross Heart Hospital. This is a 24/7 operation supporting both scheduled and emergent surgical procedures.

Under the direction of the Clinical Operations Director, the Manager – Sterile Processing and Case Cart Management is accountable for the oversight and leadership of sterile processing functions across all affiliated sites. This role ensures compliance with all applicable standards and regulatory guidelines while promoting safety, quality, and efficiency. The Manager serves as the primary liaison for compliance and accreditation related to sterile processing, including interactions with The Joint Commission (TJC), the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), and other regulatory bodies. Provide strategic and operational leadership to the Central Sterile Processing team, ensuring high-quality services are consistently delivered across all facilities.

Serve as the point of contact for regulatory agencies and manage preparation, response, and follow-up activities for inspections and surveys.

Collaborate closely with OR, procedural areas, and nursing units to optimize workflows and resolve service issues.

Monitor and report performance metrics, identify trends, and lead continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Recruit, train, and develop staff; ensure performance evaluations are completed; support career development and staff retention strategies.

Maintain effective communication with multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment of sterile processing goals with institutional priorities.
