This Opportunity

FPA is currently searching for a full-time Municipal Project Manager- Traffic/Transportation for our Newark, New Jersey Office. The ideal candidate will have NJ PE license and a minimum of 10 years of successful service as a Transportation Engineer.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design transportation, utility, facility or hydraulic systems or structures (as appropriate) utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation Software.
  • Develop or implement engineering solutions to assist clients with improving and maintaining their infrastructure.
  • Perform municipal engineering review of Planning and Zoning Board applications for a variety of municipalities.
  • Conduct studies of traffic patterns or environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess potential impact.
  • Complete design reports and calculations for design tasks.
  • Develop construction cost estimates and project specific specifications.
  • Coordinate with all applicable regulatory agencies and utilities.
  • Support the field activities of our construction inspection staff, including providing timely data, shop drawing review and client coordination.
  • Complete assignments independently with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with staff within various FPA groups and across various other disciplines on larger projects.
  • Delegate tasks to staff engineers and monitor their work, as appropriate.
  • Monitoring of the project schedule, budget, and staffing needs, as appropriate.
  • Actively participate in client contact and communications.
  • Work with management on proposals and business development as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree.
  • 10 years of related work experience.
  • PE license (NJ) required (or ability to obtain through reciprocity within 6 months).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D required. Proficiency in MicroStation software a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) required.
  • Proficiency with traffic analysis software such as SYNCHRO, SimTraffic, etc. a plus.
  • Knowledge of stormwater management design and regulations including County, Soil Conservation District, NJDEP, NJDOT and AASHTO regulations and design standards.
  • Familiarity with State regulations and requirements. For example, NJDEP MS4 Permitting, NJDOT Municipal Aid projects and NJDEP Land Use procedures.
  • Experience in design and/or management of roadway, traffic, utility, and/or municipal capital improvement projects (NJDOT & NJTA experience a plus).
  • Experience reviewing applications for local planning and zoning boards a plus.
  • Highly motivated and eager to work on a diverse range of capital improvement projects for local county, and state agencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
