We are looking for a strategic and detail-oriented Purchasing Manager to lead the procurement efforts for our client. This role is responsible for sourcing materials, supplies, and services while managing vendor relationships, controlling costs, and ensuring timely delivery. A strong understanding of landscaping materials, tools, and equipment, as well as comprehensive knowledge of supply chain processes, is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with company goals and project timelines.
  • Manage procurement of landscaping materials, including plants, soil, mulch, sod, hardscaping, irrigation components, tools, and equipment.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable supply.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality standards and delivery performance.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align purchasing decisions with overall business objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance regarding quality, responsiveness, and reliability.
  • Forecast procurement needs based on seasonal trends, project schedules, and inventory levels.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and inventory reports.
  • Coordinate deliveries to ensure materials are available when and where needed.
  • Work closely with project managers and operations staff to anticipate and fulfill material needs.
  • Stay informed on market conditions, pricing shifts, product availability, and potential disruptions.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to reduce costs and improve supply chain efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in purchasing within the landscaping, construction, or agriculture sectors.
  • Proven skills in budgeting, cost control, and negotiation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience with vendor and inventory management systems.
  • Proficient in procurement software, inventory tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
